What should I bear in mind if I want to order a worktop?
Would you like to fit a worktop above your Wastoren® washing machine cabinet? Then it is important to choose the right dimensions and to allow for the space available. That gives you a neat finish and a worktop that fits perfectly.
The right depth
We recommend a worktop that is 1 cm deeper than the cabinet:
66 cm if the cabinets stand flat against the wall.
Deeper than 66 cm if the cabinet stands slightly away from the wall; in that case add that extra distance to the depth of the worktop.
Measure the wall at several points, because walls are rarely completely straight. Allow a little clearance on the length (about 2 to 5 mm) so the worktop does not jam.
The right material
Also consider the material of the worktop. Choose a material that suits use in a laundry room and stands up to moisture and daily use. Popular choices are:
Laminate (HPL) – affordable, easy to maintain and available in many colours.
Composite or ceramic – highly scratch and moisture resistant with a luxurious look, but heavier.
Wood – a warm, natural look; do treat it properly against moisture with an oil or lacquer.
Cut-outs for a sink or tap
Would you like a sink or tap in the worktop? Then always provide the correct cut-out dimensions. Decide the position of the sink and the tap hole in advance, and specify which edges will be visible so they can be finished neatly.
