Can I install my washing machine cabinet under a sloping ceiling?
Yes, in many cases it is possible to install a washing machine cabinet under a sloping ceiling. Whether the cabinet actually fits depends on the height available, the pitch of the roof and where the cabinet sits in relation to the sloping wall.
So always measure the height at the spot where the cabinet will stand. Allow not only for the height of the cabinet itself, but also for enough room for assembly, ventilation and connecting the washing machine and dryer.
Key dimensions and clearances
The height of the appliances – a standard washing machine or dryer is about 85 cm high. Combine this with the height of the cabinet to work out whether everything fits under the slope.
Room for vibration – leave some space between the cabinet and the sloping wall. A washing machine vibrates during the spin cycle and must not touch the wall.
Door swing – make sure the appliance door can open fully without touching the sloping wall.
Accessibility – check that you can still reach the detergent drawer and the connections comfortably.
