What about fire safety?
At Wastoren®, safety comes first. Our washing machine cabinets are developed specifically for installing a washing machine and dryer safely, and are designed with stability, ventilation and everyday use in mind.
To safeguard fire safety and the proper working of the appliances, it is important to follow the assembly and installation instructions. Among other things, make sure the washing machine and dryer have enough ventilation space, that the ventilation openings are not covered, that the electrical connections are made correctly and that the appliances are used according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Practical tips for a safe laundry area
Connect the washing machine and dryer to a proper, earthed power supply and avoid overloaded extension leads.
Clean your dryer's lint filter regularly; a build-up of lint is a well-known cause of overheating.
Provide enough ventilation around the appliances, so heat can be carried away properly.
Preferably do not run the washing machine and dryer when you are out of the house or asleep.
Think about smoke alarms and escape routes too
Many countries have rules about smoke alarms in homes and about keeping shared hallways and stairwells clear. Do check which rules apply where you live. In any case, keep smoke alarms unobstructed and do not put a tall cabinet directly underneath one. In your own laundry room, keep the cabinet and the appliances clean and free of dust, so nothing flammable builds up.
