Is the cupboard material moisture-resistant?
Yes, Wastoren® cabinets are moisture resistant and designed specifically for use in rooms where a washing machine and dryer stand, such as the laundry room, utility room or bathroom. Thanks to the high-grade materials and finish, the cabinets cope well with the humidity that occurs in these rooms.
Strong construction with a moisture-resistant finish
The frame of the cabinet is built from high-grade board 22 mm (Signature Colour Collection) and 19 mm (Exclusive Colour Collection) respectively thick. The top layer is finished with melamine – just as in the kitchen, bathroom and furniture industry – and the edges at the front are made extra scratch and impact resistant with thick edging.
A special metal base plate
We have also developed a special metal base plate that comes as standard with every base cabinet. You place this plate under the machine, where the risk of moisture is greatest, protecting the bottom of the cabinet against swelling or moisture damage.
Moisture resistant, but not waterproof
Worth knowing: our cabinets are moisture resistant, but no board material is completely waterproof. Untreated standard chipboard or MDF would soak up moisture and swell over time; our melamine finish and the protective base plate prevent exactly that. Always remove standing water or a leak straight away and make sure the laundry room is well ventilated – an open window or mechanical ventilation, for instance – to prevent damp and mould.
